Rogue Legacy 2 Review – Grand Lineage

If you were to draw up a blueprint of the ideal video game sequel, it would be a schematic of Rogue Legacy 2. The latest roguelite dungeon crawler from developer Cellar Door Games retains everything that was captivating about the 2015 original while improving upon it with some fantastic new additions. If you played the first game, you’ll notice there’s an immediate familiarity to Rogue Legacy 2’s crunchy combat and satisfying gameplay loop, yet it doesn’t take long for new wrinkles to appear that significantly alter each run through its ever-shifting world.

The basic premise of Rogue Legacy 2 is identical to that of the first game. You play as a valiant adventurer who’s sent to explore the ruins of a mysterious castle. Your ultimate goal is to find and defeat six unique bosses in order to unlock an imposing door that leads to the final area. As you gallivant across Rogue Legacy 2’s six varied and increasingly treacherous biomes, you’ll accrue golden coins b…

Phoenix Wright- Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice Review

In its recent past, the Ace Attorney series has moved away from using mysticism and more fantastical elements in its plot. That all changes with Spirit of Justice, in which you’ll find yourself questioning just how grounded the roots of series’ legend and myth are. Sporting a cast of familiar faces and a handful of compelling new ones, Spirit of Justice may be the most involved Phoenix Wright title in recent years, with complex murder trials that culminate in you feeling both smart and relieved. It’s refreshing to see the series go full-supernatural this time around and step up its difficulty, a criticism of the last game. There are a few moments where the tension and drama lag thanks to some vapid court antics, but this is small potatoes compared to the beautifully crafted web of intrigue blanketing the rest of the experience.

Spirit of Justice opens with Phoenix on vacation in Khura’in, an eccentric country without separation of church and state. Here, guilty verdi…

Peter Molyneux Says Next Game Includes Something No Game Before It Has Ever Had

Peter Molyneux, the famed video game designer known for his work on the Fable series and making bold claims about his projects, has begun to tease his next game.

Speaking to GameReactor, Molyneux said his next game has a mechanic that has “never been seen in a game before.”

“I feel like we are exploiting that mechanic in a world and an environment which may be familiar to people. And because it is in a familiar environment, it’ll be a lot fresher,” Molyneux said. “And a lot of this is very mystical because I’m trying to avoid to tell you what it’s like. But it’s going to be a lot more like a kind of Fable, Black and White, Dungeon Keeper kind of experience.”

Molyneux admitted that, for past game announcements or teases, he would go into more specifics and tell everyone why he believed his next game would be “the most brilliant game in the world.” But for his next title with his independent studio 22cans, Molyneux wants to avoid doing that people people might get “v…

Flutter Entertainment financials hurt by voluntary Dutch exit

British and Irish iGaming behemoth Flutter Entertainment has announced that its decision to temporarily pull out of the newly-regulated market of the Netherlands could cost it up to £10 million ($11.6 million) this year.

The London-listed firm included the revelation in a third-quarter trading update before detailing that this expense could eventually rise to as high as £40 million ($46.3 million) for 2022 even if the country’s Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) regulator grants it a license by the end of next year. The company detailed that it voluntarily suspended its Dutch operations from October 1 after the small nation instituted a new licensing regime that has so far attracted a group of ten rival operators.

Positive postulation:

Previously known as Paddy Power Betfair until undergoing a name-change in early-2020, Flutter Entertainment is responsible for a slew of online casino and sportsbetting domains including Betfair.com, PaddyPower.com and PokerStars.com. The…

Japanese casino implementation legislation to go live from Monday

In Japan and legislation is set to take effect from Monday that will lay out the basic rules governing the nation’s planned trio of integrated casino resorts as well as the specific duties and responsibilities of the new Casino Management Board regulator.

Zelda- Skyward Sword HD- Last Chance For Preorder Bonuses And Release Day Delivery

The Nintendo Switch is about to have a new Legend of Zelda game on it, though it’s a familiar one for fans of the franchise: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD releases this Friday, July 16, on Switch. An enhanced port of the 2011 Wii game, Skyward Sword HD is still available to preorder, and there are some neat retailer-exclusive bonuses for doing so. If you’re going to preorder, you don’t want to wait–right now, you can still order a physical copy and have it by release day, but only if you order soon. If you’re willing to wait a few days in exchange for a discount, Daily Steals has Skyward Sword HD on sale for $10 off with free shipping, but it doesn’t ship until release day.

In addition to the HD remaster, Nintendo is releasing Zelda-themed Joy-Cons alongside Skyward Sword HD (unfortunately, these have become extremely difficult to find in stock). There are two ways you’ll be able to play Skyward Sword on Switch, and the first method i…

Zelda- Tears Of The Kingdom – How To Get Midna's Helmet

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Midna’s Helmet is a legendary armor piece that you can acquire in the game. Named after Link’s companion in Twilight Princess, it’s got decent stats and effects, too. Here’s our guide to help you get Midna’s Helmet in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to get Midna’s Helmet in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Midna’s Helmet can be found in the Depths World, so make sure you’re well prepared. We suggest checking our Depths and Chasms overview if you’re unfamiliar with this underground region.

Now, even though the item is in the Depths, we still need to look for the Chasm that leads to it. The one that we want is called the Eventide Island Chasm. It’s all the way in the southeastern tip of the map.

Basically, if you’ve visited Lurelin Village, you should see another landmass across the Necluda Sea. You can build a boat or hovercraft to reach it. …

New York Governor Introduces $233 Billion Budget to Exclude Online Casino Proposals

After a bill proposal to legalize online casinos was filed in the New York Senate with an aim to boost the US-largest online market, Gov. Kathy Hochul reportedly released the 2024 Executive Budget to exclude online casinos in the Empire State. As reported by Play NY, Gov. Hochul released the $233 billion Executive Budget on 15 January 2024 to dispel hopes of online gambling proponents until further notice.

$233 Billion Budget:

Hochul said: “This budget makes it clear that fiscal discipline can co-exist with progressive, people-driven policies. I am committed to fight the right fights on behalf of New Yorkers, and to pursue the common good with common sense – by seeking common ground.”  The same goal will reportedly be pursued by the lawmakers supporting the bill recently proposed by Sen. Joe Addabbo. His bill S8185 proposing to add online casino gaming and lottery to the state’s online gambling portfolio will be waiting fo…

New Report Demonstrates the Key Changing Preferences of UK Online Casino Players

The United Kingdom has long been one of the world’s premier online gambling markets. Stewarded by the Gambling Commission, the industry has been able to thrive thanks to the strict rules put in place and the balance struck between tight regulation and the free market.

A clear showing of the prominence of the industry in the country can be seen on Premier League football shirts. Although, per The Guardian, from the 2026/27 campaign, the brands will be limited to sleeves and hoardings rather than being primary, middle-of-the-shirt sponsors. Even with this, gambling will continue to thrive.

Being such a competitive and relatively open market, spotting the preference trends of UK customers is key for existing brands to remain popular and new brands to break in an…

Why Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Are Sparking Engagement Rumors_1

Why Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Are Sparking Engagement Rumors

Does Selena Gomez just have her love on, or is she wearing something more?

The 32-year-old is sparking engagement rumors with her boyfriend Benny Blanco thanks to some strategically placed emojis.

Posting a mirror selfie to her Instagram Stories on Aug. 8, the “Love On” singer sported a champagne-colored slip dress, covering her hand with heart emojis as her producer beau stood in the background.

Gomez also shared a photo dump of PDA-packed pics with her man by the beach. Notably, the Only Murders in the Building star was not rocking any rings in the roundup, though it was clear she couldn’t keep her hands to herself.

The music producer has made it clear that marriage is his end goal when it comes to his future with Gomez. After Howard Stern said, “I’m predicting marriage” of the pair’s romance during a May intervie…

Baldur’s Gate 3’s latest patch has introduced a ‘very frustrating, borderline unplayable’ glitch that makes companions dump their inventories on you-

Update: In a statement to PCG, Larian says that the problem players are running into with the shared stash system is “not the intended behavior and will be fixed in an upcoming update.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 is excellent. Historically excellent, in fact, but it’s not without its flaws. The first of these, of course, is that Astarion was not voiced with Neil Newbon’s original Brummie accent, but the game’s awkward inventory system is a close-run second. I don’t know about you, but I probably spent at least a couple of hours of playtime standing stock-still in camp, desperately trying to give my chaotic inventory and those of my allies some semblance of organisation. It never worked.

The third patch for the game tried to ameliorate that a bit, implementing a new “Shared Stash” system that took important quest items away from party members when you dismissed them and placed them in your inventory. It’s not much, but it does mean you don’t los…

French Counter-Strike team re-sign star French player, celebrate by sticking him on a golden gun-throne in front of the Eiffel Tower because they’re French-

French esports club Team Vitality has announced that its star Counter-Strike player Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, who helped the team win the last-ever CS:GO Major, has re-signed to stay with the Parisians until 2026. And boy is Vitality excited about the news.

The outfit decided that only one thing would do for this announcement. Zywoo is French and the king of the AWP-ers, Vitality is a French esports organisation, and arguably the team’s finest moment was winning the Paris Major last May.

Vitality therefore announced the player’s new contract by making him sit on a golden throne made out of Counter-Strike guns, with the Eiffel tower as a backdrop.

Vitality later posted a tribute video to the player:

The team later posted some close-up shots of the throne itself. The AWP appropriately enough is the throne’s highest point, while Zywoo also appears to have been granted a crown made of bullets. I’m not sure what the golden skulls are all about. The wh…

Games consoles now deliver fully one quarter of AMD’s revenues-

The traditional view has always been that games consoles were a useful but relatively petite contribution to AMD’s overall revenues. Turns out that’s not entirely true. In fact, Sony’s PS5 alone represented fully 16% of AMD’s revenues in 2022 and likely a quarter of revenues came from Sony and Microsoft consoles combined.

That’s according to an official AMD filing (via Tom’s Hardware). “One customer accounted for 16% of our consolidated net revenue for the year ended December 31, 2022. Sales to this customer consisted of sales of products from our Gaming segment,” the filing revealed.

That customer can only really be Sony and the PS5, which comfortably outsells the Xbox Series consoles. Of course, AMD wasn’t just responsible for the PS5’s APU, it also created the chips for both Microsoft’s Series X and S consoles.

Estimates of overall volumes to date for both consoles put Sony’s PS5 roughly in the 30 million to 32 million range, with the MS Series consoles on a lit…

Palworld struggled to find a dev with shooter experience in Japan before stumbling on a self-taught hobbyist who worked at a convenience store-

Only five days post-launch, Palworld has sold over seven million copies and become the second game ever to log over two million concurrent players on Steam. Its unexpectedly absurd level of success has led to much speculation over the source of its appeal—as well as some condemnation—but the notion that it’s “Pokémon with guns,” while not exactly accurate, must be at least part of the answer.

Finding someone to design Palworld’s firearms was apparently a challenge for Japanese developer Pocketpair, though.

“Japan makes a ridiculous amount of RPGs,” said Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe in a lengthy blog post last week (translated from Japanese). “But how many Japanese-made shooters are there? The only one that comes to mind is Resident Evil, and that didn’t have guns as the main focus. I decided that Palworld would be a shooter at the very beginning of the project because those are the most popular games globally.”

There are other Japanese-dev…

Hideo Kojima says Metal Gear Solid 2 had to make 300 changes and was almost cancelled in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks-

Hideo Kojima recently gave an interview to the magazine Weekly Tokyo Keizai, in which he talked a little about the run-up to the release of Metal Gear Solid 2 and how real-world events almost scuppered the game’s release. At the time MGS2 was probably the most anticipated game in the world, and was due to release in November 2001. Then two months before the game’s release, the September 11 terrorist attacks happened, killing just under 3,000 people and changing the course of the world.

MGS2, which featured terrorist factions attacking New York, was suddenly a project with very bad timing indeed. Kojima and Konami went into crisis mode, with Sony also involved, realising that it simply could not release the game as-was in this context. Particular scenes, such as Arsenal Gear crashing into Manhattan and collapsing various buildings, were now unthinkable (the bookends of this scene survive, but what happens in-between is left to the player’s imagination).

“The depicti…

PS5 Pro leak allegedly reveals ‘PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution’ and up to four times the ray tracing performance of the regular ol’ PS5-

The original PlayStation 5 is getting on a bit these days. First launched back in November 2020, the console set tongues a-wagging with its reasonably impressive spec sheet, including a fast SSD, a custom eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU, and an RDNA 2 GPU that brought it up to greater performance parity with gaming PCs of the time.

While this latest leak for the upcoming PS5 Pro doesn’t go into those sort of hardware specifics—although we have summarised rumoured hardware specifications previously—it does reveal some potential performance numbers and upscaling features that might give us more of a clue as to what Sony has been cooking up behind the scenes for the new model.

This latest information comes from YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead, which has traditionally been a bit hit-and-miss when it comes to the accuracy of leaked information. Still, in a recent video the channel reveals “leaked documentation from within Sony” that supposedly reveals the exist…

Overwatch 2’s executive producer says controversial winter event is a disaster of framing, anger ‘surprised’ him- ‘What we wanted was for players to have more choice’-

Overwatch 2 has had some trouble in the past year-and-a-bit since its release—between promised PvE content being absent, an outright admission that the game has been in decline, and a ‘colourful’ reception on Steam, the game’s freemium model has been a point of contention—especially for players who bought Overwatch 1 fully-priced.

A recent controversy has made that sentiment worse, with players responding to the bitter fact that they wouldn’t be able to earn every cosmetic in the Winter Fair event even if they went for the premium option—things worsened after executive producer Jared Neuss responded to a player in a post on X, where he wrote: “It’s $5 for 4 Legendary skins”—though some of them are recolours of past skins—”which feels squarely in the spirit of the Holidays to me.”

The event (which went live yesterday) gives you tickets for every nine games you play (though wins count as two towards that number). The issue lies in how those ti…

Some of the biggest names in indie games are teaming up to put on a ‘no fluff’ showcase of new game announcements-

French indie studio Evil Empire, which has spent the last five years working on expansions for roguelike sensation Dead Cells, prides itself on being a “triple I” developer: independent, but still big enough to make “world-class” games. Evil Empire likes the label so much, in fact, that it’s spent the past few months organizing a new showcase with some other indie superstars, including the developers of Slay the Spire, Darkest Dungeon, Vampire Survivors, and Terraria. The Triple-I Initiative will be streaming on April 10 and will show off more than 30 games.

“We did collaborations with many indie studios [for Dead Cells]: Slay the Spire, Risk of Rain, Terraria,” Evil Empire’s marketing director Bérenger Dupré told me in an interview at last week’s Game Developers Conference. “It was a cool experience taking those games and putting them into Dead Cells, but we were always wondering if there was a way to collaborate with our indie friends outside of games.”

The guy who fought Malenia over and over until Elden Ring- Shadow of the Erdtree was announced is back for one last dance-

“I’m going to do something ridiculous every day until [x videogame thing happens]” might be a little pat now—hell, there’s probably a sociological paper to be written about gamers performing devotion for companies as if they were implacable deities.

But JPNB on YouTube was a pioneer of the form, fighting secret Elden Ring megaboss Malenia every week (initially every day) over a span of months until we finally got that Shadow of the Erdtree announcement last February. He hung up his spurs after that, but now he’s back once more to tango with the Blade of Miquella.

Watch On

During his original run, JPNB started out trying to fight Malenia every day until we got news of an Elden Ring expansion. As the wait dragged on, that quickly became “every few days” before he settled into a sustainable pace of fighting her once a week with a new, fun, themed build each time. With 11 days to go until the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, JPNB committed to a …

Unity says it’s building its AI suite in a ‘transparent and responsible’ manner, after its first swing didn’t go down so well earlier this year-

Unity’s found itself under fire from the public these past few months—and for decent reasons. In June, for instance, it announced that it would incorporate AI programs into its developer tools, something it didn’t really elaborate well enough on to soothe artists and developer fears alike.

Unsurprisingly, it then had to drop one of its AI partners after it was found to have just been pulling models wholescale from SketchFab, like this cat from Murdered Soul Suspect. Then there was the whole pricing fee fiasco, which is pretty much still ongoing, with revelations that it was a rushed-out decision in October amidst its CEO’s resignation. Trust in Unity has eroded, which makes any calls of ‘we’re doing the right thing here, we promise’ a hard sell.

Now, in an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Unity Create general manager Marc Whitten wants you to know that its AI tools are all above-board and squeaky clean. The Muse suite includes a chat function, a texture generator,…

Wait, there are 5 Lord of the Rings games due in the next 2 years–

In August 2022, Embracer Group added Middle-earth Enterprises to its ever-growing lineup of studios and properties. And it’s not wasting any time doing something with it: Embracer revealed in its Q3 2022 financial report that it now has no less than five LotR games in development.

“There are currently five games in production by external partners, to be released in financial year 2023/24,” the report states. “There is also one film in production by an external partner.”

Embracer’s 2023/24 fiscal year runs from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, meaning that, if the schedule holds, all five games will be out within little more than a year.

The report doesn’t give any indication of titles or platforms, but it’s possible that we know of at least three of the games in development already. Gollum and Return to Moria have been on our radar for a while, and the third potential project is The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, a mobile game being developed by Electro…

Wordle today- Hint and answer for #848 Sunday, October 15-

If you’re struggling with today’s Wordle you’ll find a helpful clue below, as well as a range of general tips designed to make the most of every guess. And if you’re more than a bit struggling and would just like someone to tell you the answer to the October 15 (848) puzzle, please? I’ve got your back.

A nice, simple, win in three was just what I needed after all the frantic fun I seem to have had the rest of this Wordle week. I may not be able to boast about any fantastic turnarounds or sudden sparks of inspiration with this one, but at least I had one day where my eyebrows didn’t repeatedly crash into each other as I scoured my previous guesses for clues to today’s Wordle answer.

These are my favourite Cyber Monday microphone deals-

  • Razer Seiren Mini | USB | $49.99 $34.99
  • HyperX Quadcast | USB | $99.99 $89.99
  • HyperX QuadCast S | USB | $159.99 $103.99
  • Sennheiser Professional Profile set | Mic + boom | USB | $199 $179
  • Shure MV7 | USB, XLR | $249.99 $224
  • Shure MV7 Tripod kit| USB, XLR | $269 $242

Most headset or webcam mics are a disappointment at best, so a dedicated desktop microphone can be an easy way to hugely improve most setups. Most gamers could benefit from having a better quality mic for multiplayer sessions, and with streaming becoming ever popular, a good mic can be the difference between welcoming viewers or scaring them away. This makes mics a great addition to most setups, and o…

Windows 11 just isn’t enticing Windows 10 users to upgrade, and its market share is actually falling-

Microsoft must be wringing its hands in frustration as it tries to get users to move on from Windows 10 and embrace the wonders of Windows 11. It seems no matter what it tries, users just stubbornly refuse to move on from that old dinosaur of an OS.

According to Statcounter (via Neowin), as of March 2024, Windows 10 accounts for just over 69% of desktop market share worldwide. That’s an increase of nearly two points from February. By contrast, Windows 11 claimed 26.7% in March, down from 28.16% in February. A couple of points here and there isn’t what you’d call a dramatic change, but a year’s worth of data shows Windows 11 has failed to win the hearts and minds of those users familiar with Windows 10.

It’s quite an oddity to see the market share of the latest Windows OS decrease over time. You’d expect users upgrading their PCs to gradually adopt the latest version of Windows. It could be just a data outlier, but if not, Microsoft has a real problem on its hands.<…

Some days the grey letters help more than the greens. My opening guess only revealed a single yellow, and I have to admit I was a bit disappointed about it—until I took a breath and remembered that if it definitely wasn’t those letters, then it must be one of these instead. With that helpful thought in mind, a win in three came quickly.
